Online gambling regulations.

Gambling on the Internet allows people from around the world to bet in online casinos using software developed specifically for online gambling sites. Casino games in online casinos offer the same opportunities which could be found in traditional casinos. Any software that is used by an Internet casino for online gambling is obligatory tested by the federal gambling rules and regulations board. In addition to testing of the software, all Internet casinos must act in accordance with the Code of Conduct, which was adopted by the Interactive Gaming Council (IGC).

The purpose of the IGC is providing consumer confidence in interactive gaming products and services with help of fair and responsible trade guidelines and practices. The IGC is intended to create a forum for people who want to discuss various aspects of online gambling, and to be a defender of the gaming industry. In order to get approval for online gambling, Internet casinos should follow the ten online gambling regulations of the Code of Conduct. These rules include such aspects as consumer privacy, data protection, regulatory compliance, liability,  fair advertising, limiting access of minors, dispute resolution, auditing standards, banking and transaction processing, bonus payments, and others. If Internet casino does not meet any of these gambling regulations, the approval of the IGC will be removed until all rules will be adhered by online casino.

Because there are thousands of Internet casinos, software testing and the IGC Code of Conduct set standards for all casinos providing Internet gambling. Without these gambling rules and regulations online gamblers will have no possibility to value and to trust online casinos.

In 2005 in Great Britain The Gambling Act 2005 was adopted.  The representatives of gambling business, society and government have worked at it for several years.  An obtained gambling regulation is unique.  362 articles of the law form its 18 chapters, there almost all ways of gambling (sweepstakes, bingo, casinos, slots etc.) are regulated, the system of government acting (gambling commission) in the gambling business is established, also the means of gambling addiction control and of child protection are provided.   The Gambling Act 2005 came into force in September 2007. This period was provided for the reorganization of certain public bodies, for the acquaintance of business with new rules of gambling regulation. For this period Gambling Commission has developed special acts detailing some provisions of law.

Just in the first article of gambling law the main objectives of gambling regulation are marked out; they cause all its provisions.
1)  protection of children and other vulnerable segments of the population from the engaging in gambling, establishing of gambling age;
2) inadmissibility of the interpenetration of crime and gambling business;

As of June 2011 the UK gambling business has achieved the following results:
1. The number of casinos on the territory of the United Kingdom – 145 (25 of them are in London).  The total drop of all casinos is 4,958 billion pounds. Over 16 000 employees are working in casinos.
2. The number of bingo clubs – 690. The total amount of bets is 2,012 billion pounds. 19 000 people are working in clubs.
3. The number of slots is about 200 000. The total profit from slots is 2,17 billion pounds. 22 000 people are operating at them.

Summing up, we should notice the professionalism of British powers in resolving of set problems.  They understand well the whole complex of problems related with gambling legalization and solve them with admirable pedantry.  At that, not only interests of government are taken into account, but also interests of gambling business and British society.
What about online gambling sites, today British citizens can gamble online on any site regardless the place where the site operator has got the license.  So, it means that the holders of gambling licenses act in accordance with laws in those countries, where they provide their services.   But the sensational case of illegal poker sites shows all in a completely different light.
Such situation forces British government to review its position to online gambling sites having foreign or offshore licenses.  For this, a special gambling commission was created and its recommendations will be published in the coming weeks.  It is now unclear how the low will be changed, but the fact that there will be changes is certain.
