Blackjack, also known as twenty-one, is one of the most popular casino card games in the world. The only difference between Blackjack Surrender and the classical Blackjack game is the Surrender option that allows a player to surrender after the first two cards have been dealt.

Objective

The goal of the game for a player is to beat the Dealer’s hand by either getting a better hand without exceeding 21 or by the Dealer’s hand going bust (going over 21).

Cards

8 decks are used, 52 cards each. Cards are shuffled after each game.

The value of a hand is simply the sum of points of each card in the hand. In Blackjack, cards are valued in the following way:

  • The cards from 2 through 9 have their face values.
  • 10, Jack, Queen, and King are all valued at 10.
  • An Ace can be counted as either 1 or 11. An Ace always gets the value that makes the best hand. For example:
    • If you have Ace and 7, the value of this hand can either be 8 or 18. If you stop here, it will be 18. But say you draw one more card, an 8. The hand now contains Ace, 7 and 8). Its total value is 16.
  • Blackjack is an initial two-card combination, with a value of 21, consisting of an ace and a ten-value card (10, Jack, Queen or King).

Play

You can bet on up to 3 hands, by placing bets on the central, right and left boxes.

Click DEAL to start dealing cards. Both you and the Dealer are dealt 2 cards. You receive your cards face up, the Dealer has 1 face down and the other face up. If you are playing multiple hands, 2 cards are dealt face up for each hand. Each hand will be treated separately.

Check for Blackjack

In case the Dealer’s face-up card is 10, King, Queen, Jack or Ace, the Dealer checks for Blackjack:

  • If the Dealer has Blackjack, his face-down card is turned over and Your hand is compared to the dealer’s.
  • If the Dealer doesn’t have а Blackjack, then the game proceeds as usual – with the Double, Hit and Stand options on offer.
  • Note: In case the Dealer’s face-up card is Ace, Insurance is offered before the Blackjack check is performed (see Insurance).

Choose one of these options once the cards have been dealt:

    • Surrender - Click the SURRENDER button if you are not satisfied with the first 2 cards dealt to you and you do not want to continue the game. You can surrender only after the Dealer has checked for Blackjack. If the Dealer has a Blackjack, the game is over. If you Surrender you receive half of the initial bet placed back and the game is over.
    • Hit - Click the HIT button to draw an additional card. You can draw as many cards as you require. If the total reaches 21, dealing automatically stops. If your hand busts (its total exceeds 21), you hand loses.
    • Stand - Click the STAND button to stop drawing cards. Once STAND is clicked you either move to play the next hand or if it is the last hand then the Dealer’s starts playing his hand.
    • Double - Click DOUBLE to double the original amount bet and get 1 more card added to your hand. No more cards can be drawn for this hand.

Depending on the hands dealt, the Split and Insurance options may become available.

Split – If the first 2 cards are of the same value (e.g. 2 Aces, 2 Sevens, or 2 cards with a value of 10 like 10, Jack, Queen or King), you can split them into two separate hands by clicking SPLIT. This will place an additional bet equal to your original bet. You can then proceed to draw cards for the first split hand. You can only split your hand once.

Note: When splitting a pair of Aces, you are only allowed to draw one additional card for each Ace. If you draw a ten-valued card on one of the split Aces, your hand is not considered to be a Blackjack, it will be treated as a normal 21.

    • Insurance – This option becomes available if the Dealer’s face-up card is an Ace. In this case, a player has the option to insure against the dealer’s Blackjack. The ‘Insurance?’ message, ‘Yes’ and ‘No’ buttons will appear on the game table.
    • If you don’t want to insure your hand click NO.
    • To make the Insurance bet click the YES button. In this case an additional bet is placed, equal to half your initial bet.
      • If the Dealer does have a Blackjack, the Dealer’s card is turned face-up and the game stops. You lose your original bet (unless you also have Blackjack) but your insurance returns a payout of 2 to 1.
      • If the Dealer does not have Blackjack, the game proceeds and the Stand, Hit and Doublebuttons become available.

    Dealer’s Rule

The Dealer starts playing his hand once all the player’s hands have been completed. The Dealer stands on 17 or higher.

    Game Outcomes

After a player stands (stops drawing cards) and after the Dealer completes his hand, the Player’s and the Dealer’s hands are compared. The winning hand is the one closest in value to 21. If a hand is a Blackjack, it will beat any other hand including a regular 21. If the hand total is greater than 21, then the hand busts.

    • A regular winning hand pays out 1 to 1. For example, If you bet $10 and beat the dealer, your $10 will be returned and you will win $10, $20 in total.
    • Blackjack pays out 3 to 2. For example, if you bet $10 and your hand is a Blackjack, your $10 will be returned and you will win $15, $25 in total.
    • The Insurance bet pays out 2 to 1. With an initial bet of $10, your insurance bet will be $5. If the Dealer has Blackjack, you bet will be returned and you will win $10, $15 in total.
    • If you’ve decided to surrender, half your initial bet is returned. For example if you’ve bet $10 and then decide to surrender, you are returned $5.
    • In case of the hands tie, your original bet is returned.
